What role can digital storytelling play in education?
Digital storytelling seems like a fun way to learn and can be used as a form of communication. Some of the approaches are using video, animations, audio, music, and photos. This can be used in a classroom by requiring the students to retell an event in history. By using digital storytelling the students may be able to remember the historical event more easily because they have to use higher order thinking in order to develop the story.
I like the idea of using digital stories to retell historical events. I think you are right - students will probably have a much better grasp of the significance of the event if they have to critically think for themselves to incorporate it into a digital story. This is another great, hands-on way to incorporate technology into the curriculum.

ReplyDeleteI also think it will be fun to use digital stories in the classroom - I liked what Professor Davis'class did with their story telling. I think the older students - say 4th grade and up will enjoy it more. The little ones like the SmartBoard and do well with it. I have a first grade class this semester and they love the SmartBoard.

Shannon,
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of using digital stories in your classroom for the same reasons as you. I believe that if you have your students involved in the lesson then it will be more meaningful and more likely that they will truly remember the lesson and content.
